This year's autumn in Ukraine will be slightly warmer than the climate norm. This was stated in a commentary on Channel 24 by Vira Balabukh, head of the department of applied meteorology and climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
September frosts and rains
According to the expert, frosts are already possible in September, especially in the western and northern regions, as well as in the highlands of the Carpathians, where snow often falls. Also, prolonged rains are a typical sign of autumn, but their intensity this year is not yet predicted.
Warmer than normal autumn
Balabukh emphasized that air temperatures above the climatic norm will prevail throughout the fall. September is expected to be the warmest month, but October and November will also be milder than usual.
Indian Summer
Ukrainians also expect Indian summers - periods after a steady cooling, when the average daily temperature rises to +15°. However, it is currently impossible to accurately predict the time and duration of such warming, as long-term temperature forecasts are given for no more than 5 days.
Forecast for September
According to the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the average air temperature in September 2025 will be +13°…+18°, which is close to the norm. Precipitation is expected to be 37–76 mm, i.e. about 80–120% of the average multi-year norm.
