US President Joe Biden made it clear in an interview with Time that he does not support Ukraine joining NATO. The statement, made in the context of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, highlights the complexity of international relations and the role of the United States in ensuring the security of its allies.
"Ukraine should never be occupied by Russia. And that doesn't mean that it (Ukraine - Ed.) becomes part of NATO. It means that we have the same relationship with them as we do with other countries, when we supply them with weapons so that they can defend themselves in the future. But I was the one who said that I was not ready to support the NATOization of Ukraine," the US president said in an interview with Time.
He stated that he had been to Ukraine as a senator and vice president and had seen "significant corruption" and "difficult circumstances.".
Biden added that if Ukraine is allowed to "fall," Poland, the Balkans, and other Eastern European countries will follow.
