Bali police announce DNA match in missing Ukrainian Komarov case

Police on the Indonesian island of Bali are continuing their investigation into the alleged kidnapping of Ukrainian citizen Igor Komarov. Investigators are examining human remains found at the mouth of the Vos Teben River and trying to determine their identity.

DNA samples from the mother of the missing Ukrainian man have been transferred for comparison with tissues from the found body parts. The analysis is being conducted at the forensic laboratory of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.

According to Bali regional police, human remains were found at the mouth of the Vos Teben River in Ketewel village, Gianyar district. Investigators believe they may be linked to the disappearance of a Ukrainian man.

Senior Commissioner Ariasandi, head of the Bali Police Public Relations Department, said that genetic samples from a relative of the missing man will be used to identify the remains.

Preliminary laboratory tests showed that the mother's DNA matched blood traces found at a villa in the Tabanan district and in a rented Toyota Avanza car. According to investigators, this was the car that could have been used to transport Igor Komarov.

Law enforcement officials believe that the match may indicate the involvement of these locations in the kidnapping and alleged violent murder.

The final results of the DNA examination should confirm whether the remains found belong to Igor Komarov. After that, the investigation will be able to move forward in establishing the circumstances of the disappearance and possible suspects.

Currently, the police continue to collect evidence and question witnesses. The family of the missing person and the Ukrainian side are awaiting the results of the examination, which may be key in the further investigation.

We previously reported that dismembered human remains were found on Ketewel Beach in Gianyar District on the Indonesian island of Bali. Police are investigating whether they could belong to missing Ukrainian Igor Komarov, who was kidnapped on February 15 in the Jimbaran area.
