The threshold score is the minimum number of test scores that an applicant must achieve on the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) in order to be eligible to participate in competitive selection to higher education institutions. This is a key indicator determined by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine each year.
In 2025, in order to pass the threshold and be admitted to the entrance competition, an applicant must score at least 15% correct answers in each subject he takes at the NMT. It is important to note that the threshold score refers to test scores, not rating scores, that is, it is these scores that determine the possibility of participating in the competition.
If an applicant scores at or above the cut-off score, they can receive a score of 100 to 200 points for each subject, which will allow them to submit their scores to the university's admissions office. However, if their test score is below the cut-off score, they will not be able to submit these scores for admission.
The conversion of test scores into a rating scale is carried out using special conversion tables established for each subject in accordance with the Admission Procedure for a particular year.
At the 2025 NMT, to receive 100 rating points for each subject, applicants need to score:
- 5 points in mathematics, foreign language and physics;
- 6 points in chemistry;
- 7 points in Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, geography and biology;
- 8 points in the history of Ukraine.
These requirements allow applicants to count on participating in the competitive selection if they reach the threshold score for each of the subjects determined on the exam.
