NATO countries together with Ukraine have established a working group to consider issues of strengthening the country's air defense. According to the head of the Ukrainian mission to NATO, Natalia Halibarenko, the first meeting of the group is scheduled for next week. It is noted that foreign companies specializing in air defense will later join this initiative.
Halibarenko stressed that at the meeting next week, the Ukrainian side will present its proposals and listen to the proposals of its partners. She also noted that companies with advanced technologies in the field of air defense may join the work.
The head of the mission noted that at this stage the main attention is paid to Western defense companies that produce modern air defense systems. The Institute for the Study of War notes that the supply of such systems from Western partners is of key importance for Ukraine, as Russian troops are testing new methods of countering Ukrainian air defenses.
United States National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby emphasized that strengthening Ukraine's air defense will be a priority in shaping future military assistance packages from the United States.
