Employees of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB) together with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine exposed a large-scale corruption scheme in which current and former officials of the Odesa Customs were involved.
Abuse of official position allowed one of the companies exporting sunflower crops to avoid paying taxes, which caused losses to the state in the amount of more than 13 million hryvnias.
Five participants of the scheme were notified of the suspicion.
It was established that the officials of the customs posts of the Odesa Customs issued certificates of origin of agricultural products to the exporting company on the basis of documents containing false information.
Later, these certificates were used by the exporter to export agricultural products without hindrance and evade taxes by reducing the export duty from 10% to 3.6% and 2.7%.
In this way, more than UAH 13 million in losses were caused to the state budget.
