As our editorial office learned from sources in the President's Office, the Ukrainian leadership is preparing a series of large-scale actions on the territory of the Russian Federation at the end of June. These include missile strikes and special operations that are to take place on the eve of the NATO summit scheduled for July.
According to the interlocutor, these actions are viewed on Bankova as an informational and psychological factor that should convince partners of Ukraine's strength and determination, as well as push the West to make new decisions on assistance.
"At the summit, Ukraine needs not only verbal support, but also concrete decisions - about weapons, about air defense, about guarantees. And one of the ways to put pressure is to create an image of strength the day before," the source explains.
According to the source, the visual effect of strikes on military or symbolic objects in the Russian Federation should resonate in the international media. This approach has already been used, in particular, in the case of attacks on oil refineries and military airfields.
In addition, as part of the preparation, special services operations on enemy territory may be intensified. It is indicated that this is not only about drones or missiles, but also about other forms of destabilization - informational, technical or sabotage.
The NATO summit, which will take place in the summer, is of key importance for Ukrainian expectations regarding new formats of security assistance. Against the backdrop of delays in arms deliveries and a difficult situation on the front, Kyiv needs arguments to consolidate the West, and a spectacular demonstration of the initiative could be one of them.
Officially, the Defense Ministry does not comment on such plans. At the same time, earlier, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Lytvynenko stated that Ukraine is “capable of striking critical enemy targets” on its territory within the framework of the defense doctrine.
