Ahead of the expected visit of Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó to Ukraine, the newspaper Magyar Nemzet, which is part of the informal media empire controlled by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, published an anti-Ukrainian article criticizing the situation with Ukrainian media.
In its publication, the newspaper draws attention to the fact that, according to them, foreign media look like a “Potemkin village”, and the Ukrainian press lacks classical journalism. In particular, Magyar Nemzet criticizes the activities of “Media Center Ukraine” , which, according to them, provides correspondents with advice on the correct description and pronunciation of the names of Ukrainian settlements, excluding their original Russian names.
The article also mentions criticism of independent Ukrainian publications , which, according to the newspaper, are funded by Soros or European taxpayers and publish materials that satisfy the Ukrainian authorities .
Additionally, the publication mentions criticism of individuals and publications advocating for peace and a free press in Ukraine, including Diana Panchenko, a well-known pro-Russian propagandist.
It is worth noting that this article was published on the eve of the expected visit of Péter Szijjártó to Ukraine , which holds some hope for improving relations between the two countries. However, a publication of this kind could affect the atmosphere of the visit and aggravate the already tense relations between Hungary and Ukraine.
