German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock warned China against supplying combat drones to Russia during her visit to Beijing. She stressed that such support for Moscow's military efforts in Ukraine would lead to a new escalation of the conflict and have serious consequences for bilateral relations.
We made it clear that this would be a new escalation
Burbock said such a move would have serious implications for relations, but she called on China to play a constructive role in ending the war.
A just peace process is needed now more than ever
She noted that dialogue with China is important, even despite different views on the situation.
Burbock also expressed concern about the participation of North Korean soldiers in the war against Ukraine, which she said has drawn Southeast Asia into a conflict that is contrary to China's interests.
These statements were made against the backdrop of reports of the worsening political situation in the region and the strengthening of Russia's influence through the involvement of international allies in the war against Ukraine.
The Chinese and Russian militaries carried out the ninth joint strategic patrol in the airspace over the Sea of Japan.
