A new residential complex, Boston Creative House, is being built in the center of Kyiv - an ambitious project of the #BGV Development company, part of the BGV Group Management business group, which is controlled by the co-owner of the ATB chain, Gennady Butkevych.
But behind the luxurious architecture lies a story of dubious investment origin. The financial basis of the project is profits from the extraction of the strategic resource of beryllium, which is carried out by Perzhanska Rudna Kompaniya LLC, which is also part of the BGV structure. The ore is mined in a mine on the territory of the nature conservation fund - the Polissya Nature Reserve, where such activity is prohibited by law.
Experts estimate that the beryllium reserves in this deposit could be worth $80-100 billion. The resource is critical to the defense, aviation, and electronics industries.
However, instead of transparent work in the interests of the state, a massive underestimation of production volumes is being recorded, which allows avoiding the proper payment of rent payments. This leads to billions in budget losses. According to data, the political cover for the project is provided by top officials, in particular people's deputies from the "Servant of the People" party, including the head of the environmental subcommittee, Pavlo Yakimenko.
In addition to financial violations, the company's activities create significant environmental risks: toxic and radioactive waste enters the soil, aquifers, and the atmosphere. The terms of the special permit are violated - remediation is not carried out, and contaminated lands remain degraded.
While the investigative bodies are slowing down the investigation of criminal proceedings (No. 22025101110000604 and No. 12025220000000612), we have already appealed to the State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources, the Environmental Inspectorate, and law enforcement agencies, demanding to verify the legality of the activities.
