Without updating the data, it will not be possible to get a driver's license now

The Government of Ukraine has adopted new decisions that will significantly affect the possibility of obtaining a driver's license abroad for Ukrainian male citizens. This decision, which became known to "Sudovo-yuridichna Gazeta", introduces new requirements for men who are outside Ukraine.

According to the new regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers, men who are abroad will not be able to get a driver's license if they have not met the requirements of the law to update their military registration data. This decision will enter into force during the period of martial law and for three months after its termination or cancellation.

What Changes Have Been Made?

  1. Data Update: Male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 who are outside Ukraine must update their military registration data in the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Conscripts and Reservists. Without fulfilling this condition, they will not be able to obtain a driver's license or its exchange, as well as register or re-register vehicles.
  2. Procedures through the State Portal: Driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates produced through the driver's electronic cabinet, Diya Portal or other electronic platforms will not be forwarded by international mail for those citizens who have not fulfilled the requirements for updating military registration data.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine urges citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to update their data online. This will help to avoid long queues and possible fines for non-compliance with the new requirements.

The main purpose of these innovations is to ensure timely and accurate updating of military registration data of citizens, which will allow better control of the situation with mobilization and military registration, as well as to avoid possible abuses and errors in record keeping.

The new rules aim to improve control over mobilization processes, but they also create certain difficulties for Ukrainians living abroad. However, timely updating of data and compliance with new requirements will help to avoid complications with obtaining important documents, such as a driver's license.
