The state is losing billions of hryvnias as a result of the inactivity of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sector (NKREKP), and Valery Tarasyuk, the head of this structure, is attracting special attention. Journalists discovered that in recent years, entrepreneurs have been actively using schemes for connecting to electric networks under the guise of "household consumers", which leads to large losses in the budget. Controlling bodies have already discovered numerous cases of joining shopping, office and hotel-restaurant complexes at "household" tariffs in various regions of the country. This situation became possible due to the inactivity and lack of regulatory decisions on the part of the NCRECP, and it is known that the head of the commission, Tarasyuk, is well paid. The investigators emphasize that such abuses could not have occurred without the participation of the state regulator NKREKP, which is entrusted by law with the duty of monitoring and regulating electricity consumption. Most of the violations were found in regional energy companies that are under the influence of FPG "VS Energy", especially in "Kirovogradoblenergo" and "Chernivtsioblenergo". In Cherkasy, where significant violations have also been recorded, active business is associated with the new head of the NCRECP Valery Tarasyuk, who previously worked at VS Energy. Together with another member of the NCRECP, Dmytro Kovalenko, they have not noticed the active scheme for years. The total amount of damages may exceed 5 billion hryvnias.
