Free training, dormitories and sanatoriums: what privileges have UBD children

Members of families of combatants (UBD) are entitled to social guarantees and benefits. Special protection is provided to children of servicemen who can rest for free in sanatoriums, study in universities and receive other social services. However, these benefits are not automatically provided - they must be issued through the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).

According to the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and their Families”, in 2025 there are such benefits for children of combatants:

  • Recovery and treatment in sanatoriums and health camps once a year at the expense of the state.

  • Priority enrollment in kindergartens and schools at the place of residence.

  • Free meals in schools (at the expense of the local budget).

  • Free provision of textbooks.

  • Enrollment or transfer to a budget form of education in vocational and higher education institutions.

  • Free accommodation in dormitories for full -time students.

  • The right to receive a social scholarship or educational credit.

These benefits are up to 18 years, and for students up to 23 years. If the student is deducted from the school, he automatically loses the right to benefits.

To obtain benefits, you should contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU). This can be done:

  • Personally in the PFU department.

  • By mail by sending the necessary documents.

  • Through the mobile application "Action".

To design the benefits of combatants or his relative must submit:

  • A statement of privilege.

  • Certificate of UBD.

  • Certificate of birth of a child.

  • Family composition certificate.

  • Document on registration of residence.

These benefits apply not only to minor children, but also to adult children in the event of their official dependence on parents.
