More than half of the fires in Ukraine are caused by military operations

The Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine reported that more than 60% of fires in the country are caused by military operations. These data indicate significant environmental consequences of the conflict, which affect not only the human population, but also the environment. Shelling and other hostilities lead to the destruction of ecosystems and harm Ukraine's natural resources, the damage from which is estimated at billions of hryvnias.

Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, said this on the air of the telethon.

More than 60% of fires in Ukraine are caused by military actions, but a significant number of fires are caused by careless actions of people

Krasnolutskyi said.

According to him, due to Russian shelling, which causes fires, Ukraine is losing its ecosystems, and the damage caused is calculated in billions.
