The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has provided recommendations for the population on how to maintain heat in homes in the event of a power outage and central heating. The department emphasizes that following simple rules will help reduce heat loss and avoid dangerous situations during long outages.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises residents of apartments and houses to concentrate on one room, preferably the smallest, instead of trying to heat the entire apartment. This allows for more effective heat retention and reduces heat loss.
It is also recommended to keep windows and doors tightly closed. For additional insulation, you can use blankets, throws or rugs to cover gaps and cold surfaces.
The department pays special attention to clothing. Citizens are advised to dress in several thin layers, as the air between them retains heat better. Separately, the need for warm socks, scarves, and hats is emphasized, even indoors.
For local heating, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends using heating pads with warm water or filling plastic bottles with warm water. In addition, they advise not to remain motionless for long periods of time - light physical activity helps the body maintain heat.
At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs separately warns against using generators in residential premises. The department emphasizes that carbon monoxide, which is formed during the operation of generators, is deadly and can lead to poisoning even in a short time.
