Ukrainian banks intensified the check of cash transactions, which led to increased cases of customer card blocking. According to the legislation on counteraction laundering, financial institutions are obliged to check the transfers that have signs of risky. As a result, more and more Ukrainians are faced with situations where access to money is blocked without warning.
The reasons for lock may be:
-
regular transfers between individuals without explanation;
-
large amounts of funds without a confirmed source of origin;
-
receiving money from abroad without payment;
-
transactions from persons or organizations related to the countries under sanctions;
-
Using the card by outsiders or its application in business activities without official registration.
The increase in the attention of banks to such cases is the answer to the new requirements of the National Bank and strengthening the rules of financial monitoring, which meets the European standards of combating shadow schemes.
To avoid blocking, experts advise you to follow a few simple rules:
-
not to pass on your card to relatives or acquaintances;
-
avoid regular transfers to unknown persons;
-
if possible - specify the purpose of payments;
-
In the case of large amounts or receipts from abroad-to be ready to confirm the source of funds (contracts, accounts, certificates, etc.).
If the card is already blocked, the client has the right to apply to the bank with a written request and to require an official explanation of the reasons for the blocking. In most cases, the situation is resolved after providing relevant documents.
However, this process can take several days, which in the face of war and economic instability becomes a serious challenge for many citizens. That is why lawyers advise to keep financial transparency so that they cannot be used in a situation where their own funds cannot be used.
