The SBU detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who also held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Medical Commission (CMC). It is this commission that resolves the question of military fitness for service, but as it turned out, its representatives could use their position for personal enrichment.
During the three years of the full-scale war (2022–2024), the official managed to accumulate more than $1 million worth of property:
- private house in Obukhiv district;
- two apartments in Kyiv;
- one apartment in Odessa;
- two plots of land in Obukhiv district;
- four new BMWs.
In addition, 152,000 dollars and 34,000 euros in cash were seized from him during the searches.
The official who held the fate of the military in his hands risks up to 10 years in prison. Dissatisfaction is growing in society due to the fact that in wartime such corrupt actions undermine trust in the system and demotivate both the military and civilians.
This case once again emphasizes the need to strengthen control over the activities of military officials, especially in structures that decide on service issues.
