Bohdan Pukish: Medvedchuk's associate continues to do business in Ukraine

Bohdan Pukish plays a key role in the intricate web of business interests associated with Viktor Medvedchuk. A well-known businessman from Ivano-Frankivsk and a long-time associate of Medvedchuk, he manages companies that control important assets in the Ukrainian fuel market. His activities are closely linked to the country's defense complex. The question arises: can such people be allowed to work in the Armed Forces of Ukraine if their activities are connected with traitors to Ukraine?

Journalists became interested in this case and here is what they found out. Viktor Medvedchuk, while in Russia, continues to control his Ukrainian business, especially projects in the fuel market, which he controls through front persons even after the start of Russia's full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine. These business structures bring Medvedchuk significant profits.

Medvedchuk has a partnership with Nissan Moiseyev, whose company Glusko Ukraine imports liquefied gas from Russia and developed the Glusko gas station network (later renamed Optimusoil). Moiseyev also ran the Kherson oil transshipment complex, which was arrested as part of the criminal case against Serhiy Kurchenko. Moiseyev and Medvedchuk were seen together in 2016, arriving from Moscow to Kyiv on a private plane.

Companies linked to Medvedchuk through Moiseyev supply fuel and technical oils to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and strategic enterprises. This is worrying, as enriching traitors at the expense of the Ukrainian budget and army is immoral.

Bohdan Pukish is a key figure in this network. The founder of several companies, including IVAPROM LLC, Khimtekhoplast LLC, and Vestkhim PE, he is also associated with the Eco Innovation System Consortium and Agrosfera SE. In politics, Pukish ran for Ivano-Frankivsk City Council on the People's Democratic Party's ticket and was the coordinator of Medvedchuk's Ukrainian Choice party in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Despite his business activity, Pukish has repeatedly been involved in scandals and investigations. In 2009, a corporate conflict occurred at the OJSC “Pressmash” enterprise in Ivano-Frankivsk, initiated by the dismissed chairman of the board, Bohdan Pukish. This conflict led to a decline in production, the suspension of contracts with foreign partners, staff reductions, and arrears in salary payments. Pukish took the company’s seal with him, paralyzing its work.

Together with his wife Natalia and the private firm “Vestkhim”, Bohdan Pukish owned 42.93% of the shares of OJSC “Pressmash”. This block of shares allowed him to block the meetings of the plant’s shareholders. At one of these meetings, no one from the Pukish family came and the required quorum was not gathered. Pukish proposed dividing the enterprise or liquidating it, as a result of which he became the owner of “Pressmash”.

In 2023, Pukish actively opposed the construction of housing for displaced persons in the Ivano-Frankivsk region next to the “Pressmash” plant, apparently seeing this as a new business project for himself. Despite numerous criminal cases for misappropriation and embezzlement of property, Pukish continues to receive lucrative contracts. He runs a company that fulfills defense orders, which has significantly enriched him over the past year. However, the quality of the products often causes complaints, putting the lives of military personnel at risk.

The production facilities of one of the factories are used by Pukish to store and repair equipment for his family businesses, which brings minimal profit to the factory and the main benefit to businessmen. Pukish receives defense orders through connections with people close to Medvedchuk, which raises questions about the legality and transparency of such deals.

These actions undermine trust in the defense industry and weaken national security. Failure to comply with technological standards, lack of quality control, and connections with dubious characters create risks instead of protection. However, this scheme is completely satisfactory for businessmen who plan to expand it and apply it during the implementation of international defense projects in Ukraine.

The question arises: can the state allow such people and businesses to continue working for defense enterprises and the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as in general on the territory of Ukraine? Will we continue to turn a blind eye to this?
