Gennadiy Bogolyubov, an entrepreneur and former co-owner of PrivatBank, left Ukraine using the foreign passport of Mykola Syumak, which, according to him, he lost in the spring of 2022. He decided not to report this to the law enforcement authorities.
This information became known after Bogolyubov left for abroad on the night of June 24, 2024 by train from Kyiv to Khelm. Journalists of "Ukrainian Pravda" discovered that already in Poland he presented a real document for crossing the border.
Journalists were interested in one point. A question arose as to why the entrepreneur used someone else's passport. He could have left legally for several reasons:
- he is 62 years old, which means that mobilization restrictions do not apply to him;
- he is the father of five children, which also allows even men of mobilization age to travel abroad freely;
- law enforcement agencies have not publicly charged him.
Subsequently, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) charged Bogolyubov with illegal border crossing and using someone else's passport. If he is charged, he faces up to 7 years in prison.
It is worth noting that Gennady Bogolyubov was not charged in advance by the law enforcement officers, and he had the opportunity to leave Ukraine based on his personal circumstances, such as age and parentage.
