Officials of the Donetsk region stole more than UAH 140 million from the repair of heating and water supply facilities at the height of the war, NABU reports. According to the investigation, the head of the housing and communal services department of the Donetsk regional administration in 2023 organized the victory of his former classmate's company in the tender, although the company did not have the proper design documentation.
A contract worth over UAH 200 million was signed for the supply and connection of seven modular boiler houses in the cities of Selidove and Ukrainy, which were captured by the Russian army a year later. The boiler houses were delivered, but only two were connected, and even those did not work due to a lack of components.
In addition, in Svyatogorsk, which is still under Ukrainian control, repairs to the water supply and sewage system were carried out only on paper or in a very artisanal manner.
Investigators suspect five people in the case. Investigative actions are currently ongoing, and law enforcement officers are checking all circumstances to bring the perpetrators to justice and compensate for the damages caused.
