In the Odessa region, border guards stopped a man who was sailing to Romania across the Danube

In the Odessa region, border guards have uncovered another attempt to illegally cross the state border along the Danube River. Employees of the Izmail detachment, using technical means, discovered a 34-year-old resident of Izmail, who was trying to swim across the river towards Romania. The man took a fishing rod with him so as not to arouse suspicion, but also had flippers, which he planned to use during the swim.

Law enforcement officers documented the fact of the offense and filed administrative materials under Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses - "Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine." The State Border Service emphasized that in this section the Danube has an extremely dangerous current and a significant width, which could lead to tragic consequences. Border guards appeal to citizens not to risk their lives and health by trying to illegally cross the border.
