Wage debt in Ukraine is growing sharply

As of early August 2024, more than 34,000 cases of salary arrears were registered in Ukraine, which is 7.1% more than for the entire last year. This data was published by the Opendatabot service.

According to the information, 1,872 companies owe their employees. The largest amount of debts has been accumulated in the following regions:

  • Sumy region – 5.6 thousand proceedings.
  • Kyiv – 3.4 thousand debts.
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 2.2 thousand debts.

In particular, various subsidiaries of Oblavtodor account for 9.7% of the total amount of salary debts. The largest share of debts among enterprises is recorded in Sumy Machine-Building Scientific and Production Association , which is responsible for 11.8% of the total amount of debts.

At the same time, over 18 thousand new companies were opened in Ukraine in the first half of 2024. Of these, 69.5% or about 12 thousand are limited liability companies (LLCs).
