British scientists have warned that the lack of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) can be one of the reasons why the body is reluctant to part with overweight. According to research, many people with obesity have a shortage of this vitamin.
Vitamin B12 performs a number of important functions: participates in protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism, helps to convert nutrients into energy and activates metabolism. That is why in the absence of weight loss becomes difficult.
Some weight loss programs even provide for B12 injections to stimulate metabolism. However, the daily need of a healthy person in vitamin is only 2 μg, and excess consumption can be dangerous.
The main sources of vitamin B12 are protein products of animal origin: liver, beef, chicken, marine fish, shellfish, eggs, cheese, milk.
However, B12 is not only important for weight loss. It is necessary for the proper operation of the nervous system, hematopoiesis, the production of digestive enzymes and the transport of oxygen in the body. In particular, it promotes the formation of erythrocytes - red blood cells.
Early symptoms of B12 deficiency include: pain in the face, especially cheeks or forehead, headache, chronic fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, limb tingling and equilibrium problems.
Doctors emphasize that it is not necessary to take vitamins without consulting a specialist. Excessive or uncontrolled use of vitamin preparations can lead to serious disorders in the body.
