Brussels will not give in: military support for Ukraine will continue

The European Union has said it will not stop military aid to Ukraine, even if Russia demands it as a condition for some kind of ceasefire. Brussels emphasizes that Ukraine must receive enough weapons to ensure a strong negotiating position and reliable protection against possible new attacks.

Diplomats in Brussels emphasize that arms supplies will not stop, as the EU seeks to provide Ukraine with a strong position for peace negotiations and protection from potential new attacks by the aggressor.

According to diplomats, the key goal of the European Union is to allow Ukraine to choose the optimal moment for negotiations, while remaining reliably protected from possible attacks. It is also noted that during a potential temporary ceasefire, it is necessary to support Ukraine with weapons so that it can withstand and not allow the aggressor to regroup for new strikes.

EU representatives do not agree to a halt to arms supplies, even if Russia demands it as a condition for a ceasefire. They believe that ensuring Ukraine's defense capabilities is important for its security and stability on the continent.

The European Union is seeking to ensure that Ukraine is in the strongest position in peace negotiations, and can also abandon the “bad” deal, as Trump would say, and choose the most suitable moment for negotiations. I do not think that the European Union and its members will stop supplying weapons to Kyiv if the aggressor demands it as a condition for a ceasefire

– in the words of one European diplomat.

On Monday, March 17, EU foreign ministers will discuss further steps on the ceasefire and support for Ukraine at a meeting of the EU Council. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga is expected to participate in the meeting, who will join the discussions via video link.

Other important issues include the initiative for a new military aid package to Ukraine, including the supply of artillery shells, air defense systems, and training of Ukrainian military brigades. The financial assistance is expected to amount to between 20 and 40 billion euros.
