The United Kingdom is preparing a new delivery for the Defense Forces of Ukraine - the upgraded RAVEN Air Defense System will come to the front weeks with a party of counterfeit missiles. About it reports The Times with reference to Colonel of royal Marines, Ollie Todd.
The RAVEN system is based on the old Air-Air-air rockets asraam, which are no longer used in the British Air Force because of its exhausted storage period. They were integrated into a Supacat ground platform installed using Hawk, Jaguar and Tornado components.
The combat efficiency of the system has already been proven: in Ukraine, about 400 launches have been carried out, of which about 70% are accurate. Raven was effective against the Iranian drones of Shahd and Winged Missiles that Russia attacks Ukrainian cities.
According to Todd, the first examples of this system were used to protect the government quarter in Kiev, in particular - the residence of President Vladimir Zelensky. The new party will include not only combat units, but also special models with thermal radiation, which will complicate the detection of true air defense systems by the enemy.
Raven is launched remotely - from the control panel - which allows to reduce the risks for the staff and respond quickly to the threats of the air.
The supply of this system has been a continuation of Ukraine's international support: recently Germany has also transferred missiles to IRIS-T air defense systems that successfully protect the sky over Ukrainian cities.
