The Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, during the Yalta European Strategy (YES) forum, reported a significant increase in the production of guided aerial bombs (GABs) in Russia, which has become a serious problem for Ukrainian troops at the front.
Budanov stressed that while Russia’s Iskander missile systems have received a lot of attention, the real danger is the increase in production of KAB. “This is a huge problem on the front line. The production of guided aerial bombs has increased several times, which creates serious difficulties for the military operating in tactical depth,” he noted.
The problem of KABs at the front
Kyrylo Budanov noted that KABs are particularly dangerous due to their ability to inflict significant damage at the tactical level. They directly affect the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian infrastructure, which complicates the conduct of hostilities and causes great damage.
He also emphasized that while Russia has focused its attention on missile systems, particularly the Iskander, the increase in production of KAB is a new challenge. This increase in production could have serious consequences for strategic planning and the operational situation at the front.
