There is no system lock of Starlink Satellite Internet in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov during the Forum “Ukraine. Year 2025 ”. According to him, the situation with access to Starlink in Ukraine is stable, and at this time there are no official measures to block the system.
Budanov also noted that although there is no system lock, there is a blocking of the so -called "gray" terminals on the Russian side. This happens on the collision line, where the Russian side actively interferes with the use of Starlink in Ukrainian positions. At the same time, according to the head of the GUR, these cases of blocking are not isolated: there were days when the whole unit lost communication due to blocking terminals.
Earlier, during negotiations with the Ukrainian authorities, the United States raised the question of the possibility of shutting down Starlink in Ukraine in the context of access to strategic mineral resources. However, according to the head of the Center for Combating Misinformation Andriy Kovalenko, there are currently no plans in Ukraine to shut down Starlink, and the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov stressed that Ukraine has alternative options if necessary.
These statements have become an important comment on the background of international tensions to ensure satellite communication for the Ukrainian military who actively use Starlink to communicate in the war zone. Disabling the system can seriously affect the efficiency of combat operations.
