On January 17, 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of a Ukrzaliznytsia official who, through her husband, who is fighting on the side of the Russian occupiers, passed information to the Russian FSB about the military echelons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A woman who held the position of chief accountant of one of the branches of "Ukrzaliznytsia" in the Poltava region used her access to official documents to collect intelligence information. It transmitted data on the timing, routes and specifics of cargoes of military echelons, including heavy equipment, artillery and ammunition, which were transported by rail.
The enemy paid special attention to cargo transporting advanced military equipment and other strategically important resources. For this, the official actively used her connections among colleagues and documentary sources to which she had access to obtain even more information. At first, she transmitted data through a man who participated in hostilities in eastern Ukraine, and later established direct contact with a curator from the FSB.
The Security Service of Ukraine carried out comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of the routes of movement of the Armed Forces echelons, and also documented the criminal actions of the detainee. The woman has already been charged with two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: treason under martial law and justifying Russian aggression.
The detainee is in custody without bail, she faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. At the same time, it is planned to announce the suspicion to her husband in absentia.
