According to the results of the study "Corruption in Ukraine 2024: Understanding, Perception, Prevalence", last year business demonstrated the highest activity in exposing corruption. The results of this study indicate a growing awareness of the problem of corruption among entrepreneurs, as well as their participation in the fight against this problem.
Main conclusions:
- Corruption is a serious problem: 76% of business representatives in 2024 consider corruption to be one of the biggest problems in Ukraine, which is 3% more than the previous year.
- Increasing corruption levels: 57% of respondents said that the level of corruption in the country has increased over the past year, compared to 46.3% in 2023.
- Growing perception of corruption: 83.1% of entrepreneurs consider corruption widespread, a slight increase compared to 81.3% in 2022.
Despite the general assessment of the high level of corruption in Ukraine, entrepreneurs assess the prevalence of corruption in their areas of activity much lower. A third of the surveyed businessmen believe that there are no corruption manifestations in their field.
Entrepreneurs find the most corruption in the following areas:
- Customs.
- Providers of electricity, gas, and water supply connection and maintenance services.
- Law enforcement agencies, construction, land relations.
While tax authorities, control over economic activities, and enforcement of court decisions have the lowest level of corruption experience among respondents.
Significant progress has been recorded in the activity of entrepreneurs in exposing corruption. In 2024, one in six business representatives reported corruption to the competent authorities, which is the highest figure in recent years.
