Higher education institutions are increasingly becoming a dream of Ukrainian high school students. Prestigious diplomas, the latest approaches to education and employment prospects are all attracted to young people. However, training in the United Kingdom or the US is often unattainable because of high cost and difficult entry. Instead, Poland has become a more accessible alternative, especially after a full -scale war, when the country has received thousands of Ukrainian refugees.
Where to study: private or state universities?
Before joining the Polish university, it is worth knowing that universities are divided into private and state.
In private universities, all training is paid - both day and correspondence. The cost varies:
-
Full -time - from 5 to 6 thousand zlotys per year;
-
Correspondence - from 2500 to 30,000 zlotys, depending on the prestige of university and program.
In state universities the situation is different. Budget places are only available on full -time. Learning is always paid in absentia. For example, at the University of Warsaw, the year costs from 2 to 9 thousand zlotys, and in polytechnics - up to 10 thousand zlotys. Medical, technical and engineering specialties are even more expensive.
Which of the Ukrainians is entitled to the budget?
Free education at the state universities of Poland for Ukrainians is possible under certain conditions. According to the data of the official portal Study in Poland , those who:
-
has a sustainable beaten card;
-
is a citizen of Poland or has a Pole card;
-
has documents confirming Polish origin;
-
issued the status of refugee or temporary protection;
-
passed the exam from the Polish language to the level C1 and received a state certificate;
-
is a relative or spouse of a citizen of Poland;
-
has a temporary stay permit for family reunification.
The most realistic option is a language exam
For many Ukrainians who do not have a refugee status or a broken card, the most realistic way to free training remains a certificate of knowledge of the language C1 level. Its existence opens the path to state universities on a level with Poland citizens.
Budget entry is also possible in the presence of PESEL with UKR status. This requires:
-
have a school certificate;
-
provide a document on entry to Poland after February 24, 2022;
-
present a certificate of language knowledge at B1 -B2.
Pesel does not guarantee the enrollment automatically - you need to undergo certificates or entrance exams, like all Polish entrants.
Without knowledge of language - no chance
Studying in Poland after 11th grade is impossible without knowledge of Polish, especially when it comes to budget places. The child will have to master the Polish at least B1, and preferably B2 or C1. Otherwise, only paid programs or language courses will have to be considered.
