In May 2024, the majority of Ukrainians spoke out against holding elections during the war, which is confirmed by the results of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) survey. 72% of respondents believe that elections should not be held until the end of the conflict, while 24% support their holding even in war.
Particular attention is drawn to the results of the survey on the attitude of citizens to political parties. The parties "Batkivshchyna" led by Yulia Tymoshenko and "Opposition Platform - For Life" received the highest indicators of negative attitude. "Batkivshchyna" received 57% of negative reviews, while only 9% of respondents support it. "Opposition Platform - For Life" has an even more pronounced anti-rating: 71% of negative evaluations against only 4% of positive ones.
The Servant of the People party, led by Olena Shulyak, also received a significant number of negative reviews — 48%, while only 13% of respondents expressed support. Similar trends are observed with other political forces. Petro Poroshenko's "European Solidarity" received 47% negative evaluations and 23% positive ones, and Vitaliy Klitschko's UDAR received 34% negative evaluations against 18% positive ones.
These data were collected during a nationwide telephone survey conducted from May 8 to 25, 2024 among 2,508 Ukrainians. Fieldwork was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS). It is important to note that the survey did not measure the actual intention to vote for certain parties, but only reflected the respondents' general attitude towards them.
