Olga Stefanishyna, who was previously accused in a corruption case, has filed a declaration of candidacy for the position of Ukraine's ambassador to the United States. In 2024, she worked in the economic and financial department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, and in 2025 she is applying for one of the country's key diplomatic positions.
In her declaration, Stefanishyna indicated that she has two children, Anastasia and Daniel, who live in Kyiv. She declared four apartments (mostly in Odessa), one plot of land, and a 2009 Toyota RAV4.
Real estate at reduced prices
The documents indicate that the property is mostly owned by her together with her mother, Nadia Kravets. For example, an apartment in Odessa with an area of almost 106 sq. m, purchased in 2008, was valued at only 21.8 thousand UAH. Two more apartments — 76.1 and 38.9 sq. m — are also registered to Stefanishina and her mother.
Separately, an apartment in Kyiv with an area of 74 sq. m., which Stefanishyna's mother has owned since 2000, is listed. The cost of this property in the declaration is almost 923 thousand UAH. However, hromadske journalists previously found out that the official's mother purchased a three-room apartment in the capital's residential complex "Lvivska Ploshcha" in 2023 for almost four times cheaper than the market price - for 3.04 million UAH instead of approximately 12 million UAH.
According to neighbors and journalist sources, Stefanishyna herself uses this same apartment, although she officially declares another apartment of her mother's — probably the one that was sold back in 2018.
Financial receipts and cash
In 2024, Stefanishyna received UAH 1.16 million in salary from the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Her children received another UAH 220 thousand in alimony from Mykhailo Stefanishyna. The declaration also lists cash: UAH 280 thousand, USD 3 thousand, and EUR 5 thousand.
At the same time, her father, probably Vitaliy Kravets, last year purchased a parking space and two non-residential premises in the same elite residential complex for 650 thousand UAH, although the cost of just a parking space on the market is from 37 thousand dollars.
A troubled reputation is a badge of honor
Despite corruption suspicions and numerous questions about the origin of her assets, in 2023, Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Stefanyshyna the Order of Merit, 2nd degree. Now she can receive one of the most influential diplomatic positions in Ukraine - in Washington.
Confusion in declarations, undervalued real estate prices, and opaque use of housing raise reasonable doubts.
