While most Ukrainians count every penny, the wife of the head of Ukrtransbezpeka, Natalya Lagunina, who is registered on social networks under the maiden name Karimov, actively demonstrates the luxury she allows herself and her official husband.
Her social media pages are a continuous advertisement of a luxury lifestyle: designer sneakers, bags, dresses and accessories costing significantly more than the average salary in Ukraine. Ms. Lagunina's favorite brand is Celine: sneakers cost 700 euros, shoes cost 1,500, bags cost about the same. And this is only part of the official family's public wardrobe.
Natalia Lagunina also loves bags from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent — these brands have long become status symbols available to a select few. Her collection includes models that cost more than several Ukrainian pensions combined.
In addition, the official's wife is the owner of the clothing brand 28 MAGGIO, where prices for dresses start from 6 thousand UAH and reach 10 thousand UAH. In a country where the minimum wage is 7100 UAH, such prices look like an unattainable dream. It seems that the brand exists not only as a business, but also as a tool for legalizing dubious income.
While an official, heading a state body, should serve as an example of moderation and public integrity, his family instead openly demonstrates signs of living "beyond" the official's income.
