At the conference dedicated to the fight against corruption in Ukraine and its progress towards joining the European Union, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna expressed important views that determined the course of our country in the coming years. Stefanishyna confirmed that Ukraine has adopted a course to perform the "homework" necessary for joining the EU within the next two years. However, she emphasized that this is only the beginning of a long path of reforms necessary for full integration of the country into the European community.
"I confirm: we need two years to do our homework. But the reforms do not end with the accession. This is just the beginning," she said, emphasizing that the work done so far is only the tip of the iceberg. Ukraine is actively working on compliance with all accession criteria, in particular, in the field of fighting corruption, implementing democratic standards and ensuring human rights. According to Stefanishyna, despite receiving a decision to start negotiations, "we need to do a hundred times more work." The process of integration into the EU is not only a technical fulfillment of requirements, but also a deep transformation of the country, covering all spheres of life. It requires everyone to be ready for changes, flexibility and responsibility. At the same time, an important role is played by the European Union and its member states, on which depends not only the acceptance of Ukraine into their ranks, but also further support on the path of reforms. That is why Stefanishyna emphasizes the importance of unity and cooperation with European partners.
