On December 28, 2023, enhanced counter-sabotage and security measures aimed at searching and controlling places of gathering of people will be introduced in the Kyiv region. During the period from December 28, 2023 to January 6, 2024, the region will be checked with the participation of law enforcement agencies, such as the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the National Guard, and the 114th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade.
The main objects of the checks will be shopping malls, supermarkets, train stations, hospitals and other places of mass gathering of people. The purpose of the measures is to ensure public safety, as well as to facilitate investigative activities, since according to the police, more than 11 thousand people are wanted for criminal or administrative offenses.
The decision to strengthen counter-sabotage measures was made by the Kyiv Region Defense Council, and the measures will include checking personnel, deploying additional checkpoints, and conducting inspections at important infrastructure points.
From December 25 to 28, law enforcement officers have already conducted security exercises in various districts of Kyiv. The exercises aimed to improve the management and organization system, as well as effective interaction to ensure public safety in the event of an escalation of the situation. In addition, measures to protect the civilian population were practiced.
The police urge residents of the Kyiv region and visitors to the region to be understanding of security measures and possible traffic stops at checkpoints. In particular, it is important to have identification documents with you.
Given the current situation, temporary inconveniences for citizens are possible, but it is noted that these measures are necessary to ensure public safety and search for persons who have committed offenses. During the period of the measures, it is important to follow the instructions of law enforcement officers and show understanding for the situation.
