Chernovetsky was declared suspicion in 2022, but there is still no court

The criminal proceedings against the former mayor of Kiev Leonid Chernovetsky, suspected of encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, actually froze. Despite the declaration of suspicion in June 2022, the case is still in the pre -trial investigation stage. The indictment was not transferred to the court, the proceedings were not closed, and the sentence, respectively, has not been approved.

According to ABSultation journalists and 368.Media, the SBU is investigating in Kyiv. Chernovetsky's publications on social networks, which contained justification of Russian aggression, became the basis for declaring him suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. However, from that moment, no new statements from law enforcement officers have been received.

The editorial staff asked the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office. The official answer states that information on the investigation has limited access in accordance with Art. 222 of the CCP. No information about Chernovetsky's announcement, international legal assistance, or any investigative actions-has not been provided. There were also no decisions on this proceeding in the register of court decisions.

Thus, almost three years after a loud accusation, the case was in legal silence. It is unknown whether it is related to the complexity of the investigation or with political factors. At the same time, for many Ukrainians who remember Chernovetsky's cadence and its ambiguous actions as the mayor of the capital, the question remains fundamental. It is not just about scandalous politics, but about the person involved in a crime against statehood in wartime.
