In the Cherkasy region, the court issued a sentence to a man who, while drinking alcoholic beverages, killed his cohabitant, hitting her with a knife in his neck. The woman died on the spot.
The crime occurred during a long feast. In court, the accused said they had a few days in a row with the woman. On the day of the tragedy, the couple had breakfast and again consumed alcohol. According to the man, at some point the woman allegedly wanted to hit him with a bottle, and he, "automatically" took a kitchen knife and hit her in his neck. At the same time he claimed that he did not intend to harm and "did not aim."
The man assured that he treated the victim with respect and did not understand how he allowed her death.
The court found the man guilty under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder) and imposed a sentence of 7 years in prison. He also has to pay 12 734 UAH for forensic examinations.
The sentence has not yet entered into force and may be appealed.
