In the Kharkiv region, the investigation of the case, which shocked local residents, is ongoing. A man from the city of Dergachi, an unemployed man with pro-Russian views, will be tried for passing on information about the deployment locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a Russian journalist. The press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on the charges, which could lead to serious consequences for the accused.
Since May 2024, the man had a romantic relationship with a woman who, as it turned out, was a Russian journalist acting as an agent of the Russian special services. Their acquaintance began through a dating chat in the Telegram messenger, which, at first glance, looked like an ordinary romantic contact.
However, a much darker purpose was hidden behind this communication. The journalist, who allegedly told about the events in the Kharkiv region, actually served as a liaison between the informant and the Russian military. A man, under the influence of a woman's charm, became a supplier of valuable military data.
The man photographed locations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and equipment on the territory of the city of Dergachi. This information was passed on to the Russian military, which could pose a serious threat to the security of Ukrainian troops. On the basis of the received data, the Russian side could carry out targeted strikes on strategic objects.
The traitor was exposed in June 2024. He is currently in custody, and the case against him will be heard in the Dergachy District Court. The man faces up to eight years in prison for collaborating with the enemy.
