Three months after the Russian shelling, St. Nicholas Church in Kiev remains without windows and critically necessary repairs. The building, which is a monument of national importance, continues to collapse through delay in conservation work.
On December 20, 2024, the Russian rocket damaged St. Nicholas Church, knocking out the windows and damaging the roof. However, the Ministry of Culture has not yet started any urgent measures to preserve the structure.
The parishioners appealed to the balancing holder of the church - the National House of Organ and Chamber Music - to allow them to remove the wreckage and start repair. However, without the permission of public authorities, they cannot do so.
The community of the church emphasize that the inaction of the authorities only aggravates the situation. Through the pierced roof, rain and snow falls inside the building, causing wet wooden structures and insulation.
Experts warn that if you do not take action in the near future, the church can suffer serious damage, which will significantly complicate its further recovery.
Despite the repeated appeals of parishioners and indifferent citizens, there is no official reaction from the Ministry of Culture.
The community of the church urges the authorities to intervene immediately and begin emergency restoration work to preserve a unique historical monument.
