Military expert Igor Romanenko believes the goal is to “cut” Western arms supply chains. These statements have become controversial against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and armed confrontations between Russia and Western countries.
It makes no sense for terrorist Russia to use nuclear weapons now, but the population of western Ukraine should be informed of the potential threat, said military expert and former Deputy Chief of the General Staff Igor Romanenko.
Russia's nuclear weapons According to him, threats from Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin are not the first time, but currently there are no objective grounds for Russia to use nuclear weapons.
The expert believes that now is not the time when it is advisable for Russia to use nuclear weapons, because the occupiers are attacking and using conventional weapons to solve problems. In addition, from a military point of view, the use of nuclear weapons on the contact line will create serious problems for the side that uses them, which will have serious consequences, Romanenko noted.
However, according to the expert, information about the possible nuclear threat needs to be conveyed to the civilian population of the western regions of Ukraine. “People need to be told exactly how to act in the event of a nuclear threat, where to seek shelter, how to behave and protect themselves. Such work needs to be done, and the civilian population must be prepared for possible challenges and consequences,” Romanenko noted.
When asked why British intelligence indicates a possible nuclear strike specifically on the western region of Ukraine, the expert noted that terrorist Russia believes that the main logistical routes for the supply of weapons and military equipment pass through this region. That is why, in his opinion, the occupiers want to make this territory uninhabitable in order to cut off all possible logistical routes. Areas with radiation contamination will need to be bypassed. As Romanenko added, this is precisely where the Russians see the military sense.
