Four out of six members of the supervisory board of Ukrenergo voted for the dismissal of the company's chairman, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Forbes through an interlocutor familiar with the results of the meeting.
The issue of Kudrytskyi's release was raised at a meeting of the Staff of the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine. Volodymyr Kudrytskyi should have remained in the post of chairman of the board of Ukrenergo until August 2025 if it were not for the intervention of the Stavka. However, on August 30, during a meeting of the Stavka, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, decided that Kudrytskyi should submit an application for resignation of his own free will.
Reasons for dismissal
The main reason for Kudrytskyi's dismissal was the unfinished protective structures around Ukrenergo substations. After massive shelling by Russia on August 26, there were several power outages, which put the country's energy security at risk. "Ukrenergo" is a key operator of the Ukrainian energy system, whose stable operation depends on the energy security of Ukraine.
The Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo held a meeting late in the evening on September 2, initiated by Kudrytsky himself, said an interlocutor from energy circles in the government, who wishes to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation. Six council members present at the meeting voted for the dismissal of the company's manager.
Volodymyr Kudrytskyi will remain in the position of chairman of the board of Ukrenergo until September 4. After his dismissal, the duties of the company's manager will be performed by the current board member Oleksiy Brecht
Currently, the supervisory board of "Ukrenergo" consists of six members:
- Independent members: Daniel Dobbeni, Peder Andreasen, Roman Pionkowski
- State representatives: Yuriy Boyko, Yuriy Tokarskyi, Oleksandr Baranyuk
One seat on the board has been vacant since April 2022, when the Ministry of Energy terminated the mandate of independent board member Dejan Ostoich due to his resignation.
