Common misconceptions about travel restrictions for 16-17-year-olds have finally been debunked. Lawyer Daria Holodniak explained that such young men are not subject to the restrictions that apply to men aged 18 to 60, even during martial law.
According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 57, paragraph 2, it is determined that crossing the border is limited to men aged 18 to 60 . So:
- Young men under the age of 18 can travel abroad freely.
- There is no need for a military registration document (VOD) or permission from the TCC to cross the border.
Daria Holodnyak emphasizes: at the age of 17, there is indeed an obligation to register for the military, but this is a matter of administrative responsibility, which does not affect going abroad.
The lawyer noted that the concept of "certificate" was canceled after the amendments to the legislation, and a military registration document (VOD) . However, this document is not required to cross the border for persons under the age of 18.
"For your child to travel abroad, neither a permit from the territorial recruitment center nor a military registration document is required," Daria Holodniak emphasized.
Parents can rest easy: young men aged 16-17 are not required to have a military registration document or obtain permission from the TCC to cross the border. The border service does not require such documents, and the restrictions apply only from the age of 18.
