From July 1, 2025, the voltage standard in the power supply has been officially changed in Ukraine. From now on, the normative indicators for a single -phase network are 230 V, and for three -phase - 400 V instead of traditional 220/380 V.
However, for most consumers, these changes will be almost imperceptible. The fact is that the real tension in Ukrainian networks has long range from 210 to 240 V. Thus, the standard simply formalizes the actual situation.
Modern home appliances will not notice the transition for the most part. Devices such as refrigerators, washing machines, laptops, microwaves or TVs are usually designed to work in the 220-240 V range and some - even wider. This allows them to work without problems in most countries of the world.
Small risks can occur for old devices, including chargers released by the 2000s, or cheap Chinese power supplies that were sensitive to increased voltage. In some cases, they can overheat, but it is more exceptions.
More changes will be noted by the owners of heaters, kettles, iron and incandescent lamps - devices where the voltage directly affects the power. When transitioning from 220 to 230 in the power of such devices increases by about 9%, which can reduce their service life.
Changing the standard does not require any interference with wiring, replacement of automatic machines or sockets. All modern electrical equipment is already designed to work at a voltage up to 250 V. At the same time, experts advise to check old voltage stabilizers: models, tuned for 180-220 V, can work unstable under new conditions.
As a result, the new standard does not threaten technology and does not require additional costs. For most citizens, the transition to 230 V will go unnoticed, but it will be an important step in the direction of European integration of the Ukrainian power system.
