Will the military tax be tripled for citizens in 2024?

The Office of the President continues to prepare the country for a possible war in 2024, taking into account the reduction of Western aid and general mobilization.

At the same time, against the background of significant corruption scandals in the Ministry of Defense, where significant sums of money are "disappearing" during military purchases, there is information about a possible increase in the military levy for Ukrainians by three times starting next year. According to a source in the President's Office, the authorities are considering the option of increasing the military tax, initially intending to tax those who earn more than 20,000 hryvnias, and then expanding this tax to everyone.

The head of the Pidlas budget committee made a comment on the source of financing mobilization and the continuation of the war, noting: "If your earnings exceed 20,000 hryvnias, you can pay the military levy in the amount of 3% instead of 1.5%." We need to consider the taxation of luxury."
