The collapse in the energy system of Ukraine this winter is canceled, - Serhiy Nagornyak

Despite numerous forecasts about possible power outages due to Russian missile attacks, there will be no collapse of the energy system in Ukraine this winter. Such a statement was made by the head of the Verkhovna Rada's subcommittee on energy conservation and energy efficiency, People's Deputy Serhiy Nagornyak during a press briefing, commenting on new forecasts of the Western media regarding the energy situation in Ukraine.

Literally recently, a week and a half ago, the news appeared in The Times that Ukraine will "freeze" and it's time for all of us to prepare for the worst scenario, because the authorities have not done anything, not a single shelter has been built in Ukraine. I am preparing a thorough objection to this article. If I can finish it today, I will send them this objection that what is written in this newspaper is not true. This information is not true. After I finish dispelling the myths in The Times, I will try to dispel the next myth in The New York Times

Nagornyak said.

He noted that The New York Times published an article two weeks ago that was very similar to the article in The Times. Nagornyak noted that it turns out that world publications write far from the truth without understanding the situation.

To say that we have nothing ready is not true. There will be no collapse in Ukraine this winter, even in spite of massive rocket attacks. Even with a large number of rockets or in severe frosts. There may be some limitations, minor technical problems, but overall we are better prepared in December 2024 than in December 2023

Nagornyak said.

According to him, as of today, despite the war, despite 11 massive missile strikes this year alone, Ukraine has managed to build and hide more than 50 high-power transformers in shelters of the second level of protection.

I managed to build two underground distributed buildings for relay substations in the south and east and build three more buildings that are above ground and also hide relay control buildings. This is a colossal job

On November 23, The Times published an article in which it was claimed that due to corruption in the energy sector, Ukrainians are at risk of frostbite. The publication also claimed that Kyiv's alleged refusal to build bunkers for power stations, which protect them from Russian airstrikes, made the country vulnerable to winter.
