After capturing Vugledar in the Donetsk region, the Russian invaders will probably try to take the city of Kurakhove. This was stated in an interview by junior sergeant, commander of the 24th separate assault brigade "Aidar", Stanislav Bunyatov, call sign Osman.
According to the military, it will be difficult for the occupiers to storm Kurakhove “head-on”, since the city is defended by one of the most powerful units of strike UAVs. Therefore, before a direct attack on Kurakhove, the Russians will try to capture several surrounding villages, which will allow them to create favorable conditions for further actions.
“After analyzing the area, I came to the conclusion that first of all the occupiers will try to capture Maksymilianivka. After that, they will try with all their might to reach the village of Dalnie,” Osman noted.
He also added that if the village of Dalne is captured, it will be convenient for the Russians to put pressure on the flank of Kurakhovo and develop an offensive in the direction of Bogoyavlenka. This will endanger the encirclement of a number of villages, forcing the Armed Forces of Ukraine to leave the “pocket”.
As a reminder, on October 1, information appeared that the Russian army had occupied Vugledar in the Donetsk region. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), as of October 1, the occupiers had established control over the settlement, probably after the retreat of Ukrainian forces. The Ukrainian military carried out a planned withdrawal from Vugledar to avoid encirclement.
On October 2, the higher command confirmed that it had given permission to withdraw units of Ukrainian defenders from Vugledar in order to preserve personnel and equipment and take advantageous positions for further actions.
