At a checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, customs officers discovered a significant consignment of smuggled Apple equipment. 162 smartphones, worth more than 7 million hryvnias, were hidden in the interior of a Toyota Land Cruiser, the State Customs Service of Ukraine reports.
At the Luzhanka-Beregshuran checkpoint on the border with Hungary, based on information from the Security Service of Ukraine, Transcarpathian customs officers prevented the illegal import of 162 Apple 15 and Apple 16 smartphones into Ukraine.
The violators of customs legislation were a citizen of Ukraine who had skillfully “packed” his Toyota Land Cruiser SUV with smuggled equipment in advance and tried to cross the customs border of Ukraine through the “green corridor”.

The driver was issued a report on violation of customs rules under Article 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The violator was seized from the contraband goods, the total value of which on the domestic market exceeds UAH 7 million, along with the vehicle in which the goods were hidden.
Customs officers also prepare a report to law enforcement agencies about the presence in the actions of the violator of signs of a criminal offense provided for by the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
