On the evening of September 19, at the “Tisa” customs post on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, customs officers uncovered an attempt to illegally import cosmetics from famous brands. Its value, according to preliminary estimates, exceeds 300 thousand hryvnias.
According to the Transcarpathian Customs, the truck, driven by a 50-year-old resident of the region, was traveling from Italy in import mode. According to the documents, it was carrying cosmetics and cardboard boxes for recycling with a total weight of 3.6 tons worth over 82 thousand euros. The recipient of the goods was a company from Transcarpathia.
During customs control, the driver declared only the official cargo and his own belongings. However, an X-ray inspection revealed a hidden batch of cosmetics in the cabin. Two boxes with 125 products were found on the sleeping berth:
-
98 Rabanne Fresh Touch Foundation;
-
27 SEPHORA Colorful Face Palette face palettes made in Italy.
The man refused to recognize the cosmetics as his property, stating that he was only transporting them for transfer to Ukraine. A report was drawn up on this fact under Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
The seized products were submitted for examination to determine the final value. Violation of customs rules is subject to a fine of 30% of the value of the undeclared goods.
