It turned out that “Maznya” by young artist Sofia Morozyuk is not about art, but about the legalization of funds stolen from Ministry of Defense procurements by the family of Lviv businessman Igor Hrynkevich.

We remind you that one of the main suppliers of the Ministry of Defense, Ihor Hrynkevich, together with his son Roman and his wife, won as many as 23 tenders for the supply of uniforms and underwear for the Ukrainian army for a total amount of over 1.5 billion UAH. At the current exchange rate, this is almost 40 million US dollars.
The Hrynkevich family received funds from the Ministry of Defense in full, but they did not fulfill their obligations to the military. A few months ago, the State Bureau of Investigation initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of transactions with the purchase of clothing and underwear for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which led to budget losses of UAH 1.2 billion and disruption of supplies.
About a week ago, Ihor Hrynkevich was detained while attempting to bribe one of the heads of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to assist in the return of property seized from companies controlled by him during the course of a criminal investigation. Hrynkevich offered a bribe of 500 thousand US dollars to one of the heads of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
After the detention of the senior Hrynkevich by SBI detectives, a scandal broke out on social networks related to his daughter-in-law: artist Sofia Morozyuk. In particular, journalist Yevhen Plinsky was the first to draw attention to the facts that the funds stolen by Hrynkevich from military contracts are being invested in the development of the “ambiguous” art of the young Kharkiv artist Morozyuk.
At the same time, financiers see in the millions of investments in the so-called “creativity” of the fiancée of Roman Hrynkevich, not romantic motives, but rather financial ones. After all, the sale of “abstract” works of art, such as the “doodles” of Sofia Morozyuk, is a common way to legalize funds obtained through criminal means. In the case of the Hrynkevichs, they are stolen from contracts of the Ministry of Defense. We remind you that we are talking about an amount of about 40 million US dollars.
Considering the facts made public by the State Bureau of Investigation regarding the plot of the criminal proceedings in the Hrynkevich case, in particular, that none of the companies that participated in the tenders had ever been engaged in sewing clothes before, it is likely that the Hrynkevichs did not intend to supply clothes for the Ministry of Defense from the very beginning, but simply to appropriate funds. Of course, there must have also been an understanding that after such a “throw” they would have to leave Ukraine. According to sources close to the Hrynkevich family, they were going to leave for Europe.
It is worth noting that Europeans are quite meticulous about the sources from which capital was obtained, especially millions. The Hrynkevichs hoped to pass compliance and legalize the funds stolen from the Ministry of Defense through Sofia's "smear".
Morozyuk herself does not comment on the situation, moreover, she closed access to her Instagram account. Was Sofia aware of the situation, we think so. After all, in her interviews she confirms that her career and wealth started after the full-scale invasion (after the Hrynkevichs concluded contracts with the Ministry of Defense). Also, according to her, she paints a picture a day, and realizing the value of such abstractions, she called her first personal exhibition “Maznya”.
After the public outcry, the “Maznya” exhibition has already been closed . So now it is the turn of law enforcement agencies to provide legal qualification to Sofia Morozyuk’s actions.
