Ukraine expects the peak of the incidence of COVID-19 in mid-December, said the chief state sanitary doctor and Deputy Minister of Health Ihor Kuzin.
"Starting from January, the flu virus and SARS-CoV-2 will start to circulate. We will gradually observe such a pattern of transition from one virus to another. And so far, as of today, we record the fact that the vast majority of cases of coronavirus infection are registered in us, there are more of them," Kuzin said.
According to experts' forecasts, about 4,000 coronavirus patients will be admitted to the hospital every week.
The projected peak will last until January 2024, after which the incidence will begin to decline. Cousin also emphasized that starting in January, the influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 will be actively circulating, and a gradual transition from one virus to another will be observed. It is noted that 1.3 million Ukrainians fell ill with respiratory diseases already during the epidemic season.
